Set for measuring drilling angles on hammer heads

A set can be used to professionally determine drilling- and strike-angles for hammer heads. It contains three tools. Two gauges for the drilling angle and strike angle. With the additional tool, the drilling angle can be precisely aligned with the strings and determined in the instrument.
To measure the current drilling angle, the removed hammer head with handle is simply inserted into the gauge provided and aligned. The drilling angle can then be read off precisely from the scale. Even tailed and trimmed hammer heads can be measured very accurately.
If the drilling angle needs to be redetermined, the special insert (a ‘dummy hammer head’) is screwed onto the shank instead of the hammer head. This can be perfectly adjusted to the course of the strings in the instrument. Once the desired position for the chorus has been reached, the angle is measured with the template as usual.
To measure the strike angle, a centre line is marked on the hammer core. Then place the second gauge on the shank and align it with the centre line. The angle can then be read off the scale.

Another model for measuring hammerhead angles is the ‘metrogon template’

Always to hand in the field, simple and effective:
First: Place the core of the hammer on the template
- read off
- ready
The hammer shank diameter and the cutting width can be determined just as quickly. Just place it in the gauge.
The angle division is in megons (100), to convert to degrees, simply multiply by a factor of 0.9. Detailed instructions can be found in the download area of the article description.
By the way: The template can also be used as an ice scraper on cold days.
